MiVeneer® 5D: How We Plan Porcelain Veneers

MiVeneer® 5D is Absolute Dental’s five-stage plan for porcelain veneers: Diagnose, Design, Detail, Deliver and Defend. It’s a planning method, not a material or a promised result. Whitening, bonding and aligners are compared with veneers before any enamel is removed.

Before Anything Is Prepared.

Porcelain veneers are a lasting change. These questions decide whether they’re the right one.

  1. Your goal

“What do you see when you smile?”

Tell us what you’d change. Sometimes the answer is whitening or bonding, not veneers.

  2. Enamel

“Have your teeth been worn or filled?”

Veneers need enough sound enamel. Existing fillings and wear shape what’s possible.

  3. Bite

    “Do you clench or grind?”

Grinding can chip porcelain and damage other dental work (healthdirect, teeth grinding). A night splint may be part of the plan.

  4. Upkeep

“Are you ready for the long term?”

Veneers need cleaning, reviews and, eventually, replacement. Allow for those costs.

Veneers Or A Smaller Change?

Each option is compared on what it changes and how much enamel it costs you.

WhiteningThe colour of natural teeth.None. Tooth sensitivity is a common side effect (Eachempati et al., 2018).
Composite bondingSmall chips, gaps and edges.Little or none.

The Five Stages Of MiVeneer® 5D.

Planning aids help you see the proposed change before any enamel is touched.

  1. Diagnose

Assess your teeth, enamel, gums, bite and what you’d like to change.

  2. Design

Plan the shape and appearance around your teeth and face.

  3. Detail

Agree the shade, contours and how much preparation is needed.

  4. Deliver

Bond the veneers, then check them and your bite.

  5. Defend

Keep an eye on the veneers, teeth and gums at check-ups, with a splint if you grind.

What Planning Adds, And What It Can’t Change.

What Planning Adds

  • Smaller options compared before any preparation
  • A preview of the proposed change
  • Reviews built in after fitting

What It Can’t Change

  • That preparation is permanent
  • The chance of chipping, sensitivity or debonding
  • The need for eventual replacement
A mock-up shows the plan, not a promise. Ask how sensitivity, chipping and debonding apply to your teeth.

What Will It Cost?

That depends on what your assessment finds. You’ll see the plan and its fees before anything starts, including any later visits or upkeep it may need.

HICAPSHBFnib

Your health fund rebate depends on your cover, annual limits and waiting periods. Payment plans have their own terms and approval checks.

Frequently Asked Questions

No. Photos, scans and mock-ups help with planning and discussion, but the final result can differ. A mock-up shows the plan, not a promise, and we can’t promise a particular look or shade.

A mock-up helps you see the proposed shape and length before any enamel is touched, and it helps us hear what you like and don’t like. Your real veneers are made and bonded afterwards, and differences in thickness, light and the colour of the tooth underneath can show up. Ask what can change between the mock-up and the final result.

Use the mock-up to compare, ask and decide. Tell us what you notice, and ask to see changes. The Detail stage agrees the shade, contours and how much preparation is needed. You can also stop at the mock-up stage and leave your teeth as they are. If you decide to go ahead, you’ll have a written quote, and a review is built in after fitting. Ask how sensitivity, chipping and debonding apply to your teeth.
