Read DVA dental eligibilityWhat DVA covers varies by card and by accepted condition. Ask whether your proposed care is covered and whether prior approval is required.
No. A Veteran White Card generally covers dental care related to the accepted condition, rather than all dental treatment. DVA confirms the eligibility rules for your card and the proposed care, so tell the practice about your card when you book. Ask the team to check the treatment against the relevant arrangements before it starts, including whether prior financial authorisation is required. Bring the card and information about the accepted condition. A Gold Card and a White Card do not have identical coverage rules. For approved covered care, a provider accepting your Veteran Card accepts the DVA fee as full payment under DVA arrangements; that is different from a private health insurance gap. Ask for any proposed private, uncovered treatment to be explained and priced separately before you agree. Do not assume a private fee will later be reimbursed by DVA. The official DVA guidance linked above is the place to check your entitlement and any approval requirements.
