MiImplant® 5D: How We Plan Dental Implants

MiImplant® 5D is Absolute Dental’s five-stage plan for implant treatment: Diagnose, Design, Detail, Deliver and Defend. It’s a planning method, not an implant brand. It starts with the tooth you’ll end up with, then works back to the surgery needed to support it.

What Decides An Implant Plan?

Implant treatment depends on your health as much as your mouth.

  1. Healing

    “How’s your general health?”

Smoking, diabetes and some medicines affect healing. Tell us everything, even if it seems unrelated.

  2. Gums and bone

“Have you lost teeth to gum disease?”

Gum health matters around implants too, so we check and treat your gums before planning.

  3. The final tooth

“How should it look and feel?”

Position, appearance and bite are planned before surgery, so the implant goes where the tooth needs it.

  4. Upkeep

“Can you clean it every day?”

Implants need daily cleaning and regular reviews. The plan includes how you’ll reach it.

What Your Quote Should Cover.

Implant treatment has several parts. Ask which of these are included, and what each one adds.

Part of treatmentWhat it involvesWorth asking
Assessment and imagingChecks of your health, gums and bone, with imaging to plan the position. Is the imaging included in the quote?
Extraction or bone graftingRemoving a failed tooth, or adding bone where it’s thin, if needed. Will I need either, and what does that add?
Implant surgeryPlacing the post in the bone, then healing. How long before the final tooth?
Temporary toothA stop-gap while you heal, where suitable. What will I wear in the meantime?
Final crown or bridgeThe visible tooth, fitted on the implant.Which parts and materials are included?

The Five Stages Of MiImplant® 5D.

Stages can overlap or repeat, depending on how you heal.

  1. Diagnose

Review your health, gums, bone and missing teeth, with the records needed to plan.

  2. Design

Plan the final tooth first, then the stages needed to support it.

  3. Detail

Choose the components and check the bite, gum shape and room to clean.

  4. Deliver

Complete each agreed stage, and explain how to look after the area while it heals.

  5. Defend

Check the implant, gums and tooth over time, with maintenance that suits you.

What Planning Can Do, And What It Can’t.

What Planning Can Do

  • Show the whole treatment and cost before you start
  • Place the implant where the final tooth needs it
  • Build cleaning and reviews into the plan

What It Can’t Do

  • Remove the risks of surgery
  • Promise how you’ll heal
  • Make an implant maintenance-free
Implant surgery can lead to infection, slow healing or the implant not joining the bone. Your dentist will explain how these risks apply to you.

What Will It Cost?

That depends on what your assessment finds. You’ll see the plan and its fees before anything starts, including any later visits or upkeep it may need.

HICAPSHBFnib

Your health fund rebate depends on your cover, annual limits and waiting periods. Payment plans have their own terms and approval checks.

Frequently Asked Questions

It should list every stage and every part, so you can see the whole cost before you start. Ask which assessments, imaging, surgical stages, parts, temporary teeth, final tooth and reviews are covered, and which are extra. An implant plan has several parts, and a single total can hide what’s left out.

Treatment has these parts: assessment and imaging, any extraction or bone grafting, implant surgery, a temporary tooth where suitable, and the final crown or bridge. Ask for each one by name. For example: Is the imaging included? Will I need a graft or an extraction, and what would that add? What will I wear in the meantime? Which parts and materials are in the final tooth?

Our five-stage plan, Diagnose, Design, Detail, Deliver and Defend, puts the final tooth first and works back to the surgery, so the plan and the fee are set out before you decide. Check what your fund pays: waiting periods and annual limits apply, and some items may be treated differently. We can claim eligible items through HICAPS with participating funds. We can’t promise a set gap, and you can take the quote away to think it over.
